Role Change

I decided to change my top three roles.
  1. Housekeeping
  2. Character Attendant
  3. Merchandise
I think I'm just a little too scared to try transportation. Plus I probably won't be able to pick up any extra hours.  With character attendant or merchandise I should be able to pick up extra hours every week.

On another note, I've talked with my mom about registering my car under my name and getting my own car insurance. That and finding out about renter's insurance for the apartments.
It might not be very smart but I already started buying stuff for when I go to Florida. I am an optimist at heart. I just can't conceive that I might not get in when I apply.  I bought bedding that looks pretty cute and awesome at the same time. And I found a suction cup shower shelf-thing. That way I'll be able to put my toiletries on the shelf in the shower without having the counter cluttered or having to bring my stuff into and out of the bathroom every time I need a shower.

Whoever I room with is going to have an adventure rooming with me. :D

More DCP

So the past couple of days I've been reading some great blogs written by people who are applying, gotten into, or have been to Disney as a CP. They've given me a much better idea of what to expect from the program. Like the crazy hours you can work or the great perks you get.
This is going to be amazing.

I have all of March, April, May, June, July, and maybe August before I'll be able to apply for the Spring Advantage 2011 program but I can't stop thinking about it. I wonder when the actual date  is that the application will be put out. I hope it's sometime in August but I guess I can wait til September.
I want to be one of those people who receive a purple folder in the mail and know that I'll soon be working in Disney World as a Cast Member.

Alright, so aside from the ramblings of the above paragraphs, I have decided which roles I will be putting down as interested in. They are
  • Housekeeping -Because I like to help keep things organized and I think it is something that can help make a guest’s stay on property that much more relaxing and special.
  • Transportation - Because I think it would be a different experience than most people would have. And I would be able to interact with guests on a daily basis.
  • Character Attendant - I love the look on kids’ faces when they meet their favourite character for the first time and being there to see it would be “magical” and a privilege.
Those are my top three but I've also decided to put down Concierge, Hospitality, Photopass Photographer,Merchandise, Resort Hopper, and Costuming so that I'm not limited in their choices.
One thing that I just don't want to do is Quick service Food and Beverage. I know that they have a hard time filling those spots but I've tried food work before in Target's Food Ave and I just didn't like it. I'm looking for new experiences too, so I want to explore new roles.

Five or Six months and counting to go until application time. Why oh why can't time just speed up a little? :D

See ya next time!

Disney College Program

Okay so I set this blog up to have an outlet for my Disney-obsessed brain. I had originally decided to give myself a two-week vacation to Disney World after I graduate for my community college. However, I have decided that, instead, I will be applying for Disney's College Program.
My one aunt went to CP for a year and loved it, which is what first got me interested in the program. Since then, about 2+ years ago, I have looked into it off and on. I had decided that I wanted to enter the program for this current SPring's semester but after meeting with my college advisor, decided that I should finish school first.
Now, however, I decided that I can't possibly wait any longer than I have to. The only problem is that I will have to wait and apply for next spring's program because I don't have the money to go down to Florida right now. If I was really bad, I could put it on my credit cards, but my mom made me see reason. I've read some comments recently about how little money people have while doing the program which I could avoid if I have a lot saved up before I go.
Besides, I still have to pay for car insurance and possibly health insurance while I'm down there. So from now until I apply and, fingers-crossed, I get in, I will need to save every penny I can. I've already been saving up any cash I can. I bought a little lock-box to organize all of the cash and coins I save.

So my plans are this:
  • Save, Save, Save
  • Apply to DCP
  • Get in to DCP
  • Pack up my stuff into my car ( a tiny little Kia)
  • Drive to Disney (probably with my mom)
  • Work crazy hours and get little sleep
  • Be extremely happy about working for Disney World
Oh yeah, and lose weight cause I don't want to be the "fat girl" in CP. All-in-all I think I've got my work cut out for me.
